Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Craniosacral therapy is a light-touch therapy that balances the body's nervous system, originally developed by Osteopathic Physicians. The goal of this therapy centers on removing restrictions from the bones of the skull, vertebrae, sacrum and pelvis. It also work to manipulate the coverings of the spinal cord and muscles. This reduces the restrictions in nerve passages and promotes the movement of cerebrospinal fluid throughout the spinal cord. By improving these functions, we can enhance the body's natural healing capabilities!

CST has been shown to aid in the treatment of many conditions, including traumatic injuries, fatigue, chronic pain, central nervous system disorders, stress related problems and orthopedic conditions. The length of time for treatments and the frequency of rechecks is very specifically based on each patient. The therapy itself is very gentle; the practitioner only uses about five grams of pressure (about the weight of a nickel) to evaluate the craniosacral system, and the therapy itself is equally as non-invasive.

CST techniques complement the low-force chiropractic techniques that we use at Dancing Paws. It is very relaxing and enjoyable for our patients! Like acupuncture and Reiki, CST also works with the body's energy to improve overall health in a gentle, natural way.
