Wellness Care

 
Wellness care refers to the preventative and maintenance aspect of your pet care; routine exams, nutrition, vaccines and more. We provide these services, too! Each pet is different, so each pet has a different wellness plan. Dr. Sivula can provide you with a comprehensive recommended plan for your pet's optimum health!

We love your pets, so we want to see them at least once a year for a visit. Some pets are at higher risk for illness or injury, so we may want to see those pets more frequently. Older pets should be seen every six months to proactively manage their geriatric care. Dr. Sivula can discuss risk factors associated with certain breeds, lifestyles and life stages.

We advocate the use of vaccines, but only the necessary vaccines at the appropriate intervals. If your dog is healthy and a candidate for vaccination, we recommend a distemper and parvo vaccine every three years, or a blood titer to check protective immunity. If your cat is healthy and a candidate for vaccination, we recommend a panleukopenia, calicivirus and rhinotracheitis vaccination every three years. State law mandates that all healthy dogs and cats are current on a rabies vaccine, so we offer a rabies vaccination that provides three year protection. We recommend using heartworm preventative for dogs starting in April and continuing monthly through the first frost of the year. We can also make recommendations on topical flea medications, but only if your pet's lifestyle puts them at risk for flea contact.

We are a resource for basic behavior questions and preventative advice. More pets are euthanized each year for behavioral issues than for all medical reasons combined, so it is HOLISTICALLY minded to address these problems before they become life threatening issues.

We sell holistic, responsibly manufactured pet foods and treats at our office. There are many diet options including frozen raw foods, grain free kibbles and prepared mixes that allow you to home cook your dog or cat's food! We also carry a number of grain free and dental health treats for your pets.
